Roycroft Art Show – June 26 & 27

I was recently accepted into the Roycroft Artisan Group. They are having an art show in June and I am busily making art to sell as well as painting my display for the show!

Mark your calendars to come to the show and see all of the wonderful artists!

Applying to Roycroft Artisans

Since the November, I have been on the fence as to applying to The Roycrofters-At-Large-Association, Inc. (RALA). From what I understand, RALA is a group of very skilled artisans who help educate and foster the continual growth of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Why do I want to be in it? (I really struggled with the answer.) I feel that I am in a very unique spot between quilting and fine arts that I can help inspire other people/artisans to grow as well as them inspiring me. I am imagining that I would teach, be taught, continue to grow, and sell my art all in one group! I know that I love to teach and see people grow in a field that I am so passionate about.

So, why was I on the fence? It’s that old, whinny me saying “I’m not good enough – That might not be the right path – It’s too much”. Yesterday, when I saw the deadline to enter as 3/10/21, I really made a conscious decision to just go for it! I might not be accepted on the first attempt, however, I should be able to get good criticism to apply again next year and maybe the year after that! This could be the place that will help me grow in the way that I need to!

The jurying process is April 10 and below are the pieces that I submitted to them. I will keep you posted as to the results, and I can tell you now, that I am so excited to go through this journey!!

Please send me a message of your favorite piece!

Peace –

Finished this beautiful piece today! Its created from a photo I took a bunch of years ago. Fabric, paint, ink and thread were used to make this piece. It measures 12″x12″ and is mounted on a 2″ deep frame to hang easily in your home. Below is a slide show of the process in creating this piece. Shamrock Artwork

I have been playing with taking videos and posting them on my various social media sights. Thought you’d like to see my process from the beginning of drawing my art to just before I quilt and frame it.

Please tell me what you think!

Now I have to allow the piece to dry over night before I sew on it tomorrow! Stay tuned for the finished product!

Go to artedamato.etsy.com to see all the original Fabric Art pieces! If you are interested in purchasing one of my pieces you can do so directly through Etsy or message me.

Pocket Hugs

New product that I am making! A Pocket Hug!

My pocket hugs can be tucked into your pocket since they measure 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. You can use it to send to someone who needs hugs from you because of this difficult time. Whenever they pull it out of their pocket or just hold it in their hands, they will know that you care for them and sending them hugs.

They are a mini quilt that I used ink to hand draw the design on them. They are able to be washed and dried on a normal cycle of your machines. I am selling them locally at THE GREENHOUSE at 700 E. Robinson Road, Ton.  14120 and on my Etsy site very soon. I’ll update this blog when I post them on Etsy.

Contact me if you are interested in one or more of these.

Keeping Busy!

Since I posted last with my wonderful plan of projects to do, I saw on the news that masks are being made with cotton and flannel. I was all over it and started making them like there was no tomorrow! To date, I have made over 300 masks and still going.

I was making them at a rate of 50 per day which totally wiped me out, energy wise. I realized I needed (actually craved) my art quilting and time to be creative.

So, today I did a piece that is a quick “sketch” in thread, painted, and put onto a frame. It helps me get focused on the masks more.

Size: 5” x 7”
$20

I will be doing some small pieces like this to keep my creativity (aka: my happy place) flowing while still helping during this crisis.

They will all be for sale. If you would like to purchase one of these pieces, please message me. Also, if you have an idea of a subject to sketch, please pass it along to me.

Thank you for reading my blog. Stay safe and healthy!❤️
